Is it possible for birds (specifically a quail) be able to carry/move their baby?

I found a baby bird last night an kept it over night cuz of the weather. This morining my brother took it back to the same place... And able 1 min later he went back to check and he's gone!!! I heard quails in the trees over where he was and so I was wondering if it was possible for the mom to carry him or moved him somewhere else. Oh btw he has feathers and his itty bitty chicken wings but he's for sure not a fledging and he can barely stand up. He kicks and moves so what do u think??
